It’s because a lot of the animals sold are babies, and they look cute, and the novelty of owning a real tiger/panda/lion/monkey etc. is often too much for someone to pass up. But that’s not smart.
Would you rather see inocent animals starve to death than give it a nice caring home! People do this to get them out of their lives and into someones who cares!
There’s also the morons that use vicious animals for fighting and illegal gambling. For example, pit bull terriers are illegal in Dade County in Florida (Miami, Ft Lauderdale) but are sold on the black market so they can fight the dogs.
